YOUR CHOICE OF TABLE MAKES A DIFFERENCE

That the environment cannot wait for us to take action for improvement is probably something we can all agree on, but what should we do? It is easy to feel helpless in the face of something as extensive and overwhelming as climate change. We have chosen to do what we see we can do at present, further educate ourselves and constantly increase our ambitions to do more, both now and in the long run. At Lundbergs Möbler, we welcome change that leads to improvement. Therefore, in this work, we start from the United Nations' Agenda 2030, which aims to achieve the 1.5-degree target by 2030. To succeed in that, we must work purposefully and measurably.

We must expect that it is work that changes over time and be flexible. Our goal by summer 2024 is to create an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) to produce life cycle assessments for all our tables. In this way, we find out where we can make improvements that make a difference to the environment and start a concrete action plan on how we will continue the work to reduce our negative impact and increase our positive influence. We ensure that your choice of table makes a difference!

OUR GOAL

2020

2020

In 2020, we developed a transparent environmental report that enables the end customer to make an active choice.
Create clear guidelines for how product development should contribute to reusable tables, with a high level of classification. All the electricity we purchase comes from 100% renewable sources.

STÄNG
OUR GOAL

2021

2021

In 2021, we declared more tables from the collection with Möbelfakta. We created a clear service for reconditioning that is brand-independent. We reduced the metal content by 20% in the John pedestal table. We developed clear disassembly manuals to promote the reuse of our products.

OUR GOAL

2022

2022

In 2022, we initiated an analysis of our company's impact on the environment. It will serve as the basis for setting goals on how much we should reduce our emissions in order to contribute to reaching the 1.5-degree target by 2030. Based on this, we will design our action plan by 2024. We redesigned our old table models so that all fittings now use rampamuff and screw bolts in the attachment of legs and tabletop. This facilitates future replacement of spare parts and reconditioning.

OUR GOAL

2023

Presented the development of more detailed environmental reporting of our tables.
Started working on EPDs for our tables.
Started work to redesign our John and Jim pedestal tables to improve their circularity.
Hosted webinars to blur the boundaries between industries and instead find synergies on how we can together address small problems that make interior design more sustainable.
Participated in the development of sustainable furniture certifications in various projects.
Developed a sustainable color palette.
Developed a wooden cable duct to contribute to reduced metal use in the interior design industry.
Tested a new lacquer with better resistance to grease than the previous one, thereby increasing the lifespan of the tables.
Reduced electricity consumption by 10% and heating by 9%.

OUR GOAL

2024

2024

All our tables will have an EPD declaration showing the environmental impact throughout their lifecycle.
Develop an action plan to reduce our CO2 emissions by 2030 to contribute to the 1.5-degree target.
Present the development of the John and Jim pedestal table families, where the design should be excellent for reconditioning.
Develop an innovative way to guide our customers towards sustainable choices for tables.

2030

We aim to achieve the same reduction in CO2 emissions between 2022-2030 as required to reach the 1.5-degree target according to the IPCC's guidelines. Currently, in 2024, their requirement, and thus our goal, is that we need to reduce our emissions by at least 50% by 2030.

Table philosophy in 10 points

  1. Our furniture design should be timeless, not trendy.
  2. Our tables and chairs should be certified with Möbelfakta and have LCA/EPD that declares CO2 impact no later than 12 months after launch.
  3. The components of the table should be easy to separate and disassemble/assemble without losing stability.
  4. Our tables should be easy to circulate through redesigning, reconditioning, and reuse.
  5. It is easy to obtain and replace spare parts. We offer a 10-year spare parts guarantee
  6. The core of the table is always plywood to allow the tabletop to be reshaped in a circular furniture flow.
  7. The edge strips of the table are solid, glued-on, and 6-10 mm thick to protect the tabletop and be part of a circular furniture flow.
  8. We use thick veneers, at least 1.5 mm thick, which can be resurfaced.
  9. Our tables should have a free height from the floor to the underside of the tabletop of at least 700 mm. This is to make our tables accessible even for wheelchair users.
  10. Long-lasting good table solutions are more important than selling a table.

CO2 calculation

Reporting a product's climate impact is important to us, and you can see each furniture's climate impact under environmental reporting on the collection page. We strive to be transparent but also enable improvement over time. By making CO2 calculations for our furniture, we can more easily see where improvements can be made. Today, there are many ways to account for one's CO2 impact. Click the button below to read about how we at Lundbergs Möbler have chosen to calculate the climate impact of our furniture.

Assembly & Disassembly of our furniture

In our work with reconditioning furniture, we have learned that the level of disassembly is crucial for the lifespan of the furniture. It affects the possibility of repair and reconditioning, as well as its potential to become part of the circular furniture flow. Since 2018, we have required that all new furniture we develop be designed in a way that enables future reconditioning and reuse.

On the product pages, you will find both assembly and disassembly instructions for each product.

Reconditioning

With our environmental goal in focus, to do our job to achieve a maximum of 1.5 degrees of warming, we are now launching our reconditioning services. Not only for our own models but brand independent.
With our own models, the goal is to offer a circular furniture ownership where we help extend the life of the furniture through good care advice, spare parts and reconditioning. The reason we take on other brands' tables and chairs is to facilitate the coordination between the existing furniture and the new furniture in an interior design project.

Material for sustainable furniture

To get the function and feeling you are looking for in your table or chair, it depends on the materials. Perhaps it is the environment where the table will be placed that requires a durable surface that is easy to clean, like HT laminate. Maybe you are looking for the tactile, sound-absorbing properties of DT linoleum. Maybe the chair can stand out with a color that deviates from the rest of the interior. Or maybe Artigo Kayar is the surface material for you, the floor that ended up on the table.

Read more about the different materials here.

Choose the right material from the beginning, download our material guide for more information. You will find it on the respective product under the collection tab.

Maintain your table

Just like the materials fit in different contexts, they also require different forms of maintenance. By regularly maintaining the tables and chairs, you increase their lifespan and contribute to a more sustainable future and facilitate future reconditioning.

Read more about the care of the different materials here.

You will find the care advice for download on the respective product under the collection tab.

Reusable furniture

To produce reusable furniture with long-term durability, raw materials and construction are key. We choose materials and construction for our products with care, both for people and the environment.

Circular furniture
To extract new raw materials means responsibility to manage the resources that have been claimed, something we take seriously. For us, it means designing and manufacturing wooden furniture with the ambition that they will have a long life. By that, we mean that the tables and chairs are not only designed and produced to last a long time but also to be able to have new lives with the hope of never being taken out of use.
