What complexity does your reuse project contain?

High Complexity
There are many different types of furniture and materials in your reuse project
Upholstered furniture, chairs, custom-built furniture, metal, stone, etc.
You have a complex and exciting project ahead of you and need the help of a company with a very broad network of suppliers. We recommend that you contact Sajkla directly, which are experts in complex reuse projects

Normal Complexity
Your project mainly consists of existing wooden tables and chairs in combination with new furniture

For a fixed price from SEK 4800 excluding VAT, we help you with an analysis of the furniture relevant to the project so that you feel confident in the choices you need to make and how they work together with the new furniture you plan to use. Questions about whether you can use the same surface material on new and reconditioned tables, or if the color can be the same on new and reconditioned furniture, will be answered with the analysis. We promise that you will save a lot of time and money with this Analysis,

Low Complexity
Your project mainly consists of existing furniture from our own collection

Pitfalls!

Experiences we share

The nature of reuse is that we cannot foresee everything before we start the reconditioning work. When we remove the fabric on the seat, the polyether foam may be bad and need to be replaced. A table may have broken rails when they are disassembled and the chairs turned out to need stabilization as they were wobbly. In some cases, we have experienced that the furniture could not be reconditioned simply because it could not be disassembled. A lot of work had been put into those furniture pieces unnecessarily.
Here we have collected 9 advice to consider when starting a reuse project involving furniture.

  1. Spend a little extra time on inventory and documentation. Talk to someone knowledgeable about the information you need to gather about the furniture. That time will be multiplied. If you want to make it simple, quick, and of good quality, you can use the Sajkla platform for this.
  2. Does the furniture need to be disassembled and can it be disassembled easily? If it cannot be disassembled, it is likely to be more difficult and expensive to recondition
  3. Can the different materials of the furniture be easily separated from each other? This makes things easier and increases the possibilities of what can be done with the furniture.
  4. Veneered shell chairs are difficult to repaint in a color. Small cracks form in the heavily curved areas when painted in a color. Choose to refresh them with a clear coat instead
  5. Veneered table tops are often difficult to sand down because the veneer is so thin, 0.5-0.7 mm. A better alternative may be to remove the veneer and apply a new veneer, laminate, or linoleum instead.
  6. Table tops with a core of particleboard are often better to sort for recycling. Buy a new one of better quality and reuse the legs and base instead.
  7. How stable are the chairs? Important to know when ordering reconditioning as stabilizing a chair significantly increases the cost of reconditioning but is crucial for the quality. No point in reconditioning a chair that needs to be discarded in a year
  8. Talk to your customer so they have the right expectations. The reconditioned furniture will look like new but with a history. In a reconditioning, we fix the cosmetic flaws that affect the function, but the rest is part of the furniture's provenance.
  9. Keep the volumes together! Keep in mind that the cost of reconditioning depends a lot on the volumes of a furniture type. The first chair costs a lot as it is the one we test the solutions on. If there are many of the same type, the cost of the first chair can be spread over many and the price for reconditioning becomes affordable

    Good luck with your project!
